How to Add a Custom Background to Your YouTube Channel
Jul 12th
Are you ready to spruce up your YouTube channel and make it personal? You can add a background of your choice and make your channel stand out. If you are using it for a business I highly recommend having a nice, unique background. It will help people remember you and take the overall look of your channel up a notch.
How to add a custom background to YouTube:
1. The first thing you need to do find an image that you like that fits the look and feel of you or your brand. If you have a website you could pick something that matches or is similar so your brand stays consistent. You can find nice backgrounds or images on stock photo sites. The limit for the size of your background image is 256 K.
Writing Your First eBook – My 11 Step Formula
Jun 30th
The internet gives us the possibility to leverage, develop and market skills that we have developed naturally over the years by turning them into products. There are many products we can create with our knowledge and skills which can be sold online. One such product is an eBook.
An eBook is a great way to establish yourself as an expert in the niche you decide to focus on. As an author you have immediately separated yourself from the people who just talk about it and don’t demonstrate any concrete value to their target audience. Writing an eBook is not as difficult as it may seem to the uninitiated, the main thing is to get started.
Twelve Tips For a Successful Podcast
Jun 9th
The following list includes factors that make for good podcasting – and particularly those first few podcasts:
1. Keep it short. I suggest you start by creating a 5 minute podcast. A shorter podcast may encourage people to give it a try. If they have to listen to 30 minutes, they might not be so keen to invest the time. You can always increase the length of the podcast as your audience grows.
2. Focus on a particular area of interest and talk in depth on that subject area.
3. Project your personality through the podcast. People will listen to a podcast not just for the information that is included in it, but also because of your style of presentation and your personality.
4. Include anecdotes. Just like in public speaking, from Jesus’ time to the present day, storytelling really livens up any presentation and captures the listener’s attention.
5. Don’t read from a script. Unless you have a gift for enlivening things written down in a script, it is far better to create a framework and speak from the framework using your own words. I would prefer to hear a few ‘umms,’ ‘likes’ and ‘arghs’ and have a presentation made spontaneously than a perfectly read but stultifying presentation made from a script.
The Power of an Autoresponder
May 6th
No matter what type of business you run, online or offline, it is crucial for you to have an autoresponder. The power of an autoresponder cannot and should not be underestimated. If you want your business to grow and make more money, you must set one up as soon as possible. Let me first give you a brief description of what an autoresponder is. In a nutshell, an autoresponder is a piece of software that allows you to automatically follow up with your potential customers. For example, say I come to your site and sign up for your mailing list.
As soon as I confirm my subscription, a “thank you” email will be automatically sent to me letting me know you will be emailing me special coupons once a week. That means every 7 days I will receive an email from you. However, this is not a email that you have to go in every week and set up. There are pre-written emails that you have scheduled to go out on certain days and times. You see, a autoresponder, when used properly, can save you a lot of time and make you a lot of money. This is no joke. When you have a list, it makes things a whole lot easier.
Tips For Choosing a Domain Name That Works
Apr 23rd
People have poor memories, so the shorter the domain name the better it is. Choose words or phrases that are easy to remember.
Ask yourself:
- Is it hard to spell or read?
- Does it reflect what the website is all about?
Try to avoid too many hyphens in the name, people will not remember them.
2..COM.NET.ORG.TV.MOBI ETC
Question is dot what? People are used to
.COM as this was the first one around.
.NET has also gained popularity.
.ORG usually indicates a non profit organisation.
.TV aims high, use it if you plan to upload loads of movies and videos.
.MOBI is the latest trend and targets the internet on your mobile community.
If your target market is country oriented, you might be better off choosing an extension which reflects that, like.co.uk for the UK,.fr for France,.de for Germany etc etc. However if you plan to target the global market.COM is still the preferred TLD (top level domain – extension).
3. If you can afford it, register more than one domain name. If you’re in the UK it would be wise to register both a.com and a.co.uk simply to avoid other people registering the same name and you losing business as a result. Some companies even register popular misspellings for their company name. It’s amazing how many people type domain name in search engines when looking for info on domain names. Goggle.com could make a fortune!
4. Last tip – check availability using a domain checker and as soon as you find a good one, grab it. Things on the internet move very fast. Do not sleep on it or you’ll end up missing out.

How to Use a Forum to Find Information
Apr 14th
Online forums have become increasingly popular over the last few years. Just in case you were wondering, a forum is a place online where people can gather to share their thoughts on a certain subject. Many are considered learning portals full of information that can be absorbed by the user in need.
If you need, or want to learn something in particular, this could be used as a great starting area for any matter at hand. You can easily find this type of help by simply typing your main subject into your browser, accompanied by the plus symbol and the words forum. For example, let’s say that you are looking for information on weight loss. Type weight loss + forum into any web browser of your choice, and voila the answers you are looking for will be right at your fingertips. Most online forums will require you to sign up in order to submit any post. However, most will allow you to read until your hearts content without filling out, or signing up for anything.
Many times your question has already been posted, and answered saving you the time. People actually use forums as a way of advertising in many cases. They might hold the key to unlock the answers that you desire, but it may be tucked away in a website that belongs to them. There is nothing wrong with this in any way shape, or form as long as they are offering quality, helpful responses. The next time you find yourself needing a little help from an expert, in the area of your choice find a related forum and give it a chance. You will be glad that you did.

5 Elements of Successful Business Twittering
Feb 1st
Have you been wondering “How can Twitter be useful in promoting my business?” For a while, I have been sitting contemplating the usefulness of Twitter. I have picked up a few people in the industry to see what do they tweet and why would I keep going back for more. When following several people, they tweet a lot of information that is of no use to me. Such as “Just left the ___ conference, it was a great experience.” I have also gotten tweets from individuals like “Not feeling very creative today, I think I will roll back over in the bed.” These are snippets of information I care about! In fact, after I read them I am a little angered because I just wasted my time to read that!
1. Your Twitter Strategy -When you start a Twitter account, go in with the purpose of serving a purpose. Before you send your first tweet establish a Twitter marketing strategy. This strategy should include a time table, tweet resources, and a general idea of what you will tweet.
2. Your Twitter Audience -Know your audience! The type of follower you are trying to attract would be customers. Your customers are your target market. What do you know about your target market? Determine different facts you know about your customer (that you may or may not realize you know) such as the types of occupations they will have, their age range, their financial status, their interests, their cultural background, their habits, their interests. When you compare your current customers, you will begin to see a pattern in many of these areas. Then you will know the type of customer you want to attract more of. If you do not have a current customer base, you must use inductive reasoning to determine proposed facts about your audience. More importantly, study your competition and do research on the internet to learn your customer.
3. Your Twitter Message – Tailor your message to your follower. When devising your Twitter strategy keep in mind your follower. What valuable information do you have that a follower would want to read? Is this information so valuable that a follower will want to come back for more?
4. Your Twitter Method -Resist the urge to beat your follower over the head with how great your business is. Don’t bother doing a lot of direct advertisement through Twitter. Your follower is not there to receive advertisements and will quickly quit following you. Twitter is useful in building relationships. Look at every tweet as a way to build a relationship with many.
5. Your Twitter Marketing – There is a marketing fact that says an individual needs at least 8 exposures to your business before they will become a customer. Don’t think you will draw customers instantly using Twitter. However, you draw POTENTIAL customers. Continue to provide pertinent and interesting information to keep them coming back and increasing the number of exposures they have with your business.
Your Twitter marketing is a good effort to use in your arsenal of marketing weaponry; but it is not the answer to all of your marketing woes. Use Twitter within the context it was developed and it will be helpful in driving traffic to your website or business.

Tips to Create the Best WordPress Blog
Jan 25th
KISS Training is holding a WordPress webinar on Wednesday 27th January at 7pm. You will learn a lot about WordPress and how to use it to create a stunning blog. However, if you can’t wait until then, see the article below for some top tips.
If you want to improve the results and functionality of your WordPress blog, I highly suggest you take a look at the various offerings of WordPress. Many people fail to realize how powerful a WordPress blog is because they only use the upfront tools that they see in front of them. Some also fail to look beyond those tools to investigate what other capabilities WordPress has.
Here are some things you need to think about when creating your posts:
When you create your posts, make sure that you’re including all of the tags for each post. Don’t make actual tags specifically with each post.
If you have an existing blog and are not seeing the traffic results you desire, I highly suggest you invest in the WordPress “All in One SEO Pack”. It’s a WordPress plugin. If you simply do a search for “SEO Pack WordPress,” it’ll pop up. Basically, it’s an all-in-one tool that optimizes your WordPress blog for the search engines. It is an extremely powerful tool that does a lot of cool stuff that you might want to think about doing. One of its capabilities is that it avoids typical duplicate content on your WordPress blog. There’s a lot more it can do, but if you take a look at the page on “All In One SEO Pack” for WordPress, you’ll be able to see the endless amount of offerings it has available to the average blogger.
Another important thing you should realize when creating your blog posts in WordPress or any other blog software or web page for that matter, is to never stuff a lot of keywords into your tags. The search engines see this as spamming. If you’ve placed 20 keywords in your tag, that’s far too much. I’d suggest reducing it to about a third of that amount. Too many keywords in your tag equate to getting bad results from the search engines. Too many keywords in your tags leads to poor traffic results which is a bad recipe for disaster.
But remember, SEO, keywords and tags are not the only things you can do to improve your blogs performance. As I always say, create articles and submit them to article directory websites and have those articles point back to your blog. This way you’ll not only be relying on organic traffic, but you’ll also be gaining very good traffic from high trafficked directory websites. Follow these tips and there is no reason why you should not begin to see some very good results with your blog.
