What is E-Learning?
Jan 29th
E-Learning is defined as an electronic learning. It is an improved and enhanced means of learning things in a better and convenient way. Earlier learning was subjected to older means such as reading books, sitting in a classroom or listening to teacher. But electronic learning provides all these things restricted to one click of the mouse at your own will. It entitles all the comfort you need to learn specific things at home or at any far flung place. It is a type of pedagogy that is totally user oriented. Internet plays a decisive role in providing you all the knowledge. It is the massive database of information and it is becoming more and more organized with help of technological advancements. Basically it acts as a “virtual learning environment”. Learners can determine how, what and when they can access information. You can have access to the information on the system using Internet at any time and at any place.
Tools of E-learning includes video tutorials, Pod casts, RSS feeds (termed as Rich Site Summary, it enables you to constantly receive the updated links to the websites chosen by you), blogs, email- newsletters and web conferencing. The future of learning resides in this form. E-Learning has its historic presence in way back 1840. At that time courses were provided through mail with the help of post offices but now it is the underground cables that are transmitting information at lightening speeds through internet and computers. This aspect of electronic learning helps various educational institutes to provide online degrees to the students.
The advantages of E-learning thrive upon its personalized approach, better quality and its cost – effectiveness. This form of method makes its users comfortable by allowing them to learn at their own pace. The goals and benefits of E-Learning include easy and increased access to information, convenience and flexibility to the learners. This method also improves the performance of individual and as well as of an organization. Organizations can learn how to increase their productivity and sales by referring to the tips given by experts. It also helps in organizing induction programs for the company. Evolution of internet will take this field of learning to new heights.

Are You a Blogger?
Jan 27th
I’ve had several people ask me this – and the answer is – of course I am. The second part of my answer is usually what surprises them – SO ARE YOU! If you are reading this – I suspect you too are a blogger.
Have you ever updated your FaceBook status?
Have you ever posted a comment on MySpace?
Have you ever sent a tweet from your Twitter account?
If you have done any of the above – you are a blogger. A microblogger (is that one word?)
If you ever wanted to become a full-fledged blogger with your own website – heck – just find one of those status updates or comments – and elaborate on it. “…it sure is cold today. We got down to 15 last night.” A great status report on FaceBook – but it’s also a foundation and starting point for blog – how did that cold weather effect you? You could have a couple of paragraphs in just a few minutes.
So why blog?
If you own a small business – the answers are all over the place.
If you are a professional sales person – ditto.
If you are a Realtor – ditto.
But – I’m just an average person. I don’t own a business. I’m not one of those obnoxious sales freaks. I don’t run around with a sign on my car selling houses. Why the heck should I blog?
It’s fun.
It’s just a great hobby.
It keeps the blood flowing in the brain. Yep – you have to THINK when you blog.
It gives you a platform. Do you have a cause? Blog about it.
You can promote yourself – if you so desire. Future employment opportunities, career change, new business, the list is endless.
You leave your mark. Once you have taken the dirt nap – you have left a mark all across cyberspace (this does have it’s downside too – be careful what you write).
You might actually come up with something that makes you some money.
So – two things here -
1) You are a blogger already.
2) You don’t have to be a business person or sales fanatic to have a blog.
Happy Blogging!

Twitter Basics
Nov 20th
You have probably heard of twitter but may be wondering what on earth it is all about. It is quite simple really but can appear daunting at first if you are not sure how to use it. So, what is Twitter? Well, it is a micro blogging site which asks the question ‘what’s happening?’ You have 140 characters to tell everyone what you are doing. This can be business or pleasure or whatever else you like.
The idea is that you follow people and people follow you. These may be celebrities, businesses, friends, colleagues, etc and it is a great way to build your network.
